Last time I talked about how my succulents are blooming this year in this post here.
I started collecting orchids 2 years ago. This year has been good for my orchids as well. ** Knock on wood ** as last year none of them bloomed. I was hearing conflicting advice and also how some people thought they were pretty easy to take care of and some thought they really need to be babied.
All in all, I have made some progress after killing 3 orchids most of them have survived and my collection has gone up to some 15+ plants.
Here is the blooms.
Phalaenopsis
Cymbidiums
I wish you could smell this one as it sits in my living room. It smells heavenly.
Zygopetalum
I forgot to take pictures of some of the blooms. I see new shoots so hopefully I will remember to take pictures next time around

Beautiful! You have such an array of them. Lovely collection. My mom who lives in Bangalore told me about keeping the orchid blooms a longer time is to add thermocol or wood chips in the pots. For some reason, they like it. You can probably try and let me know. I don't have any orchid blooms at home else I would!
ReplyDeleteHi Reshma,
DeleteThanks for the tip. I have planted them all in wood chips. I have thermocol and will add them too. :-) BTW, I am also from Bangalore.
My goodness are they all just so stunning! I have never grown orchids but your post is making me want to try!! So many different varieties that all hold a special bloom all their own! I now know who to come to if I have any questions!!! Have a great week! Nicole
ReplyDeleteThank you Nicole for your kind words. :-)
