Easy decor idea - Guest post

My SIL R again comes up with a brilliant easy décor idea.

This requires a nice piece of cloth like below.  Kalamkari or old scarfs which have interesting designs are a good choice for this.

You can use any frame you have laying around the house.  Don't we all have unused photo frames in the closet or garage some place.  I do too.

Don't they look fabulous?  Enjoy the pictures and post comments.  We love hearing from you.

Jewelry Organizer

Happy new year folks  May this 2014 bring you lots of happiness and peace.  May this year provide new beginnings and lots of success in what ever your heart desires.

I hope you had a relaxing and fun holidays.  I did have a fun and relaxing holidays.  I relaxed and did some small projects around the house.  We did have few house guests and we had lots of fun with dinners with friends.  Isn't that what the season is about??

Today you get to see one of my projects.  You already saw the picture frame and Wine bottle lamp I did for the guest room.

I made a jewelry organizer for my younger daughter's room.  I had an old frame for the past 5+ years.  I think one of my cousin left it behind when she moved to India.  It was from one of those calendars.  I could never bring myself to throw that away.

This is what I came up with for that frame.

The hard wooden board backing was carefully removed from the frame so it could be reused.  I already had the cork roll and I pasted that cork role to that hard wooden board.  I bought the burlap from Joann's for $1.34.  This is what the end product looks like.

I attached hooks to hang the long necklaces or bracelets.

Wire to hang the earrings.

It is now mounted in my daughter's room.  How do you like it?  I would love t hear from you.

Window clip frame

I love going to stores during holiday season.  All the stores they deck up for the holidays.  I love stopping by World market, Home goods and Pier 1 imports.  They have some neat stuff.  Don't you agree?

While I was in the store, I noticed this.  I didn't feel like spending that kind of money the product was asking for.

I didn't want to spend that kind of money.  I came home and dug through the stuff.

You know how you buy some things having a project in mind and you never get around to do that.  This was one such find from one of the projects.   I don't remember what I had purchased those cloths pins for.  LOL.  The frame was painted white  first.  Then I went about hammering the hooks and  fixed the wire

It was a very simple project and took about a day because the paint had to dry.  You can use it for pictures

Table lamp

We are in the process of redoing our guest room.  I hope we can finish in time for the guests.

We had neglected our guest room for the past 2 years,  We had not done anything there.  Finally it is getting the much needed attention.

I made a bedside table lamp from the ideas I found on the pinterest.

Got the empty wine bottle from a colleague.

Had the lampshade from one of the old lamps

Bought the wiring kit at Wal-Mart for $6.

How do you like it?

Latest Ganesha painting

This Ganesha painting was done a few months ago by my younger daughter.  This was done as gift to our friend's parents who were celebrating 50th wedding anniversary.  As we didn't know the guest of honors very well, we decided this would be the best gift.  I really liked this one.  Simple and elegant.  I hope the couple who received it enjoys it as much my daughter took joy in painting it.

You can view my daughter's other Ganesha paintings here

I would love to hear from you all. :-)
